Sometimes I come to be suspicious of my being itself when left alone at the atelier. What does it mean that I exist. As if I came to know about myself and others while I was getting along with them, maybe I need a mirror called others. I longed for photographing people.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Last spring, I did a lot of tests and experiments, adjusting a lens value. When photographing various objects at the atelier, I was happy because it seemed I could control every screen. Encountered quite a few variables, however. Photographing with a blurry focus gave me a feeling like a sketch so that day I worked with a focus unadjusted. I thought it was good to express a subjective impression within a situation rather than getting stuck with individual expressions or dresses. It was a mode fitting for my imagery of others.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Late fall I planned a trip. Seemed that it was easy to objectify new places or persons on my journey. Expecting the spring of Japan, I read several books including a handbook for < L\u2019\u00eatre et le n\u00e9ant> by Sartre. I began to read it since Sartre said \u2018others\u2019 as the third domain of the being and it had many analyses on things felt in everyday life. I could sympathize with many things though it is a philosophy book. Maybe because a theme of others may not be considered regardless of daily lives.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hanami<\/em> is the work depicting people enjoying cherry blossoms in March and April in Japan. I planned to make certain place and time, event situation into the work since I wanted people and the scenery whose perspective and attention are in such a situation and who may be objectified completely. I also want to record the imagery of \u2018others\u2019 in a detailed manner hereafter. I long for specifying not faces of people but things conveyed as the crushed images that exist only in certain situations and impressions. I think those who may be both everyone and none are close to a present image of others.
