Auditorium series is a series of black and white photos taken inside the school auditorium in 2006. When there is a religious service, it is crowded with students. But when I took the photos, it was dark and quiet. An organist was playing and I was the only person listening to the music. I imagined that the auditorium was filled with sound particles and I selected films made of rough particles.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The small amount of light passing through the lattice window touched the structures inside the room and created diverse shapes and different shades of gray planes. The space was not large enough to use ten or so films, but I enjoyed tiny movements, division of space and architectural beauty of symmetry according to changing perspective, and the relationship between the ratio of area and light and shade.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes the separated wall and column look flat with no depth. A plane where a straight line and a straight line meet. From No. 0 to No. 10 are combinations of gray gradations. Especially, a large scale structure like an auditorium seems hard, unmovable, and overwhelming. But if you see and feel the space by dismantling it into design elements like my experience, I think it is possible to face its firmness conceptually. During my undergraduate years, I made three dimensional works but in my graduate years, I have worked on two dimensional photos. Maybe that is why I am very interested in the method and process of sensing, recreating, and perceiving the world in a three dimensional way and two dimensional way.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Of my recent works, there is a Polaroid photo called \u201cProof of existence-proof of non existence\u201d. Critical mind on time arises from the medium of photo itself but the thought on space and time develops into a proof of being here and now.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n
