It was a severance from the familiar past. I needed a passage to a new world through linguistic and cultural barriers. The physical and spatial symbol of this passage was a door (\u9580, la porte ). The door serves not only as a border but also a mediator that enables the communication between two separate spaces. Severance and communication, border and connection\u2026I would like to elaborate my personal story based on this paradoxical aspect of a door.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div align=\"justify\"><p>Taking pictures of doors was part of an exploration of the daily lives of the French for me. Keeping journals of doors from a certain distance may be a confirmation of the status of a man on the border\/threshold who cannot belong to their world. Nevertheless, I was knocking continually on the possibility of communication by taking photos of hundreds of doors everyday. My curiosity for the French behind the door made me continue to take pictures. The closed door amplified my imagination since the door does not give objective information on the people living behind the door. The isolation of objective information sometimes lets me look at doors from an architectural and formative perspective. I couldn\u2019t find any doors that had the same shape and color as the others.
