With the widespread use of washing machines, I came across a washboard abandoned in the laundry room. Having lost its original role and function, its dry and worn state reminded me of my grandmother. The cracks in the wooden board and its ridges felt like the deep wrinkles etched into their faces. This work seeks to evoke traces of weary time and to bring new awareness to old objects that surround us.

I selected and collected old washboards, then attached gauze with transferred images onto them. At first glance, the images recall hands and the traditional act of washing clothes, but beneath the surface they are connected to grandmothers, labor, and the passage of time, unfolding a story about temporality.

세탁기가 일반적으로 쓰이면서 세탁실에 방치된 빨래판을 발견하였다. 그 본래의 역할(자리)을 상실해버려 건조해진 상태가 마치 우리 할머니들을 연상시켰다. 갈라진 나무판의 상태와 굴곡은 할머니의 깊게 패인 주름처럼 느껴졌다. 고단한 시간의 흔적, 주변의 오래된 것들에 대한 의식의 새로운 환기 등을 목적으로 한다.

오래된 빨래판을 선택, 수집하여 그 위에 이미지가 전사된 거즈를 붙여 표현한다. 이미지는 겉으로는 손, 재래적 빨래행위를 연상시키지만 그 저변에는 할머니, 노동, 세월 등과 연결되면서 시간성에 대한 이야기를 전개한다.
